I've been waiting for someone more clued-up to reply - but in their absence
this is something to try, in case you haven't already done so.

Try setting the NETDIR on both machines
EITHER using UNC references
OR by mapping to the same drive letter on each machine and using that.

The best reference that I have found for this stuff is TI1437D.txt on the
Borland site.
