Websnap is Borlands tools for creating web applications. It can do ISAPI Dlls for IIS (or any other webserver that allows ISAPI). It can combine with SOAP for web services etc.
I have used it for a customer website for providing data and it is extremely easy. With regards to Delphi 7 and Delphi.NET I can only tell you what I found out at Borcon in Oz this week. Delphi 7 will be out Q3 this year. It includes a preview of Delphi.NET. This is only the compiler, for the full IDE stuff you will have to wait till next year for their Galileo project (in 1st half next year). This is a Visual Studio competitor that Delphi Win32, Delphi.NET, Kylix and C Builder plug into (well that's the impression I got). Delphi 7 has a lot of enhancements aimed at the move to .NET. The compiler works very well. A simple app was demonstrated that ran on a Windows PC and a Compac IPac running Windows CE. Looked the same, and the code was just the same as we all know and love. They will apparently be providing updates to the registered users of Delphi 7 for their .NET preview up till the release of Galileo. Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: Tracey Maule [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, 2 August 2002 2:12 p.m. To: Multiple recipients of list delphi Subject: Re: Re: [DUG]: .net vs websnap actually, im trying to learn about delphi.net. Ie Websnap is a technology in Delphi 5 onwards (including I suspect Delphi.NET). Are you actually asking if it would be better to use C# (or other .NET languages) or Delphi to develop web services? -----Original Message----- From: Tracey Maule [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, 2 August 2002 1:47 p.m. To: Multiple recipients of list delphi Subject: Re: [DUG]: .net vs websnap yep.. which way would be best IYHO? ----- Original Message ----- From: Neven MacEwan <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Multiple recipients of list delphi <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, August 02, 2002 1:08 PM Subject: Re: [DUG]: .net vs websnap T Was a little confused over .Net being a developement tool So what are you trying to compare?
