Solution One:
Use Ghost 7 (about NZ$50, or download one from Internet); It take about 20
minnutes
to backup or restore 1 to 2G bytes.

Solution Two:
backup:
  1. Go to Component -> Installed Packages...
  2. Check every item, go to the path it shows, make a copy of each .bpl
file to your backup directory e.g. d:\bpls
  3. Go to Tools -> Environment Options -> Library
Click each Edit Box, copy then paste to a text file, save it as e.g.
envSetting.txt
restore:
  1. Go to Component -> Installed Packages...
  2. Click Add, then select all bpl files in d:\bpls
  3. Go to Tools -> Environment Options -> Library
copy the content of envSetting.txt to each edit box.

Note : some .bpl files are run time only or are already installed, just
ignore it.

Subject: [DUG]: Best way to re-install Delphi after a rebuild

At my site I've had regular need to rebuild my PC, for various reasons.
Re-installing Delphi and getting all my components back up and working, can
take me 1/2 a day.

The main problem is that with the loss of the registry, Delphi "forgets"
where all my components are stored. Does anyone know the particular registry
settings / sections that need to be backed up (prior to rebuild) which will
enable Delphi to re-find my components after the rebuild?

What methods do people use to quickly get back up to speed? (especially when
components are interdependent and have to be installed in a certain order).

Thanks for any ideas.
