I have to say it's pretty stupid that the PocketPC 2002 OS uses RAM for
personal data storage on the IPAQ, given that there is Flash space to
spare. I have an IPAQ H3970 with Familiar Linux installed on it, and it
uses Flash for data storage - I had it go completely flat just
yesterday, and charged it back up with no loss of data. (It does have
some remaining issues that the PocketPC OS doesn't have, though). The
battery consumption is indeed quite high, probably due to the screen.
The Sharp Zaurus looks like a pretty neat unit, however despite being on
the market for a while in the US I haven't seen it for sale here yet.
