I have been kindly loaded a Tungsten W by Renaissance(plug). I have only
had it for a day, but on the surface it appears a better unit than the
iPaq I had previously tried and the IIIc I currently have. I prefer the
keyboard I think. I could never get to grips with the graffiti input. I
always use the onscreen keyboard on my IIIC.

The screen is brilliant.

How do you find the camera on the T? Is it any good or more of a toy? I
am evaluating the W for a client, but might upgrade my IIIc to a T.

I have sold my old Psion, and got given an IPAQ at work. The damn
battery
kept running out after a very short time and occasionally it would
decide
that it could just lose all the data. The last time that happened I was
ready to flush it down the toilet.

Still no way to program it other than VB (yuck) or C so I thought I'd
take
a look at Palm again. The last Palm I looked at was the old clunker -
very
impressive even now for an old clunker.

The Tungsten T has a screen that I think is even clearer than the ipaq,
much better colours. It's battery life is measured in days rather than
minutes and it doesn't take long to recharge. With the "Docs To Go"
package
that comes with it, I can swap everything in and out of my PC whenever I
need to.

A big plus, seeing as I am studying for my MBA at the moment, is the
ability to store powerpoint slides and change them around when I'm away.
Then all I need to do is download that to a PC and I've got it ready.
Something that cannot be done on the ipaq.

Word on the Tungsten is MUCH better. keeps tables and formatting very
close
to your PC version so you don't lose formatting on the palm like you do
on
the ipaq.

I looked at the Tungsten C with the built in keyboard, but it looked too
clumsy, besides, in just a few days play with the old Palm (on loan from
a
frient to try out), I could write faster and more accurate with the
stylus
than I could trying to type on a tiny keyboard where my fingers cover 3
or
4 keys.

I've definately chucked the ipaq in total disgust. Even my sister-in-law
who was a huge supporter of ipaq has, yesterday, had her ipaq decide to
double, then double again, everything in her ipaq. Hours and hours of
work
to get it back to normal as she had over 1000 contacts in there. She
didn't
dare not sync as she had added too much information since the last sync
a
few days ago. She had to sync, reset the ipaq, remove all the duplicated
records on the PC, then sync again. This is a feature of the not-so-good
battery. She had the latest, most powerful ipaq.

I think my little Palm Tungsted T totally outclasses hers now.

Steve
