In my experience, most if not all of the Java desktop applications I have used feel very sluggish. The one .Net application I have used (I admit to limited experience here) is even worse. This might be due to the toolkits, but if you're considering the overall performance of the final application, that is irrelevant. Why anyone would consider moving from a fast native application to a slow .Net application for this purpose with no other benefits is beyond me.
