What is involved in converting an App for a chinese like language ? It is easy enough to get all the strings into a resource file (with a bit of elbow grease). What about the characters themselves ? Do I need to worry about things like unicode anywhere ?

According to Gordon Li (Product Evangelist, Greater China, CodeGear - I asked him for you) - you need to use GB2312 or BIG5 encoding for Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese, but this will only cover 13000 characters and to be reasonably expressive, you need 60,000 - hence the need for Unicode. The encoding is set in the Font property.
