Don't like it either but if I have to have it, I'd prefer it at the top of the window not the bottom. Easier for me to see it then when running on my 30" monitor. I also used to use Ctrl+F to get to the find in files dialog, by pressing Ctrl+F and then keeping my finger on Ctrl and pressing Tab.
