There is an open source solution that might meet your needs. Its called
PDFCreator which is available from sourceforge. Fortunately with this
package you can manipulate settings in an ini file so that you send the
job to the pdf printer driver it will use the settings in the ini file,
which covers things from the default save location to the image quality
and output.
