> Many respondents also suggested that Mac set up a PayPal link to > allow for donations. So after discussion with the rest of the > Management Team, he has done so: > > http://www.elists.org/donate/ In an email to Mac I suggested that, given there is a fixed cost to run eLists.org, if it's within the means of the people donating the donations could be set up as a PayPal "subscription". Depending on how many people are subscribed to the various lists, if each of us can make a small monthly contribution towards the running costs Mac will have a known fixed income to work with rather than an unknown and variable amount every month. For example, at only $5/month we'd only need 30 people donating monthly to achieve the required running costs. If we get more people donating, then we can reduce the amount that each person contributes. Of course we can't expect our subscribers to contribute a monthly subscription but given the goodwill here, I'm sure it's a very feasible option (I know I could comfortably afford between $10 to $15 every month). And, it sure beats the hell out of having Mac worry that "this month's donations haven't quite reached the target".
