Do you try to connect to the Borland newsgroups through the
news.earthlink.net set of newsgroups? If that's the case, then that's
your problem...
The Borland newsgroups are available as "newsgroups.borland.com" and
also as a read-only copy on a number of additional news servers.
Read-only is the key here. Posting to the Borland newsgroups through
other news servers (like your news.earthlink.net) either leads to
messages that do not show up in the original newsgroups.borland.com set
of groups, or an error message (which is supposed to be helpful),
telling you that the Borland newsgroups are read-only.
As fix, you need to point your news reader to newsgroups.borland.com,
port 119, no encryption, and then you may find you can read and post
messages.
