I ended up turning UAC off on my own system simply because I was
tired of multi-prompts every time I wanted to move, copy or delete a file!
But I've tried to keep the few clients I still have running Vista from doing
the same because they're not as careful as me and I'm really not sure if and
how the UAC helps prevent certain problems that Microsoft says it cures!
It's easy enough to do almost anything as an administrator so I don't know
that it's much good against spreading viruses or not?
But all my installations are written so that application code goes
under Program Files, ini and user data under the username, and default or
general data under Application Data. And the only time this has given me
any problems is when someone other than the Administrator attempts to
uninstall/delete everything.

Subject: Developing for Vista
Hi folks --
I have a simple application that I would like Vista users to install and run
easily. The users, however, are technologically unsophisticated. (Indeed,
one of the great things about Delphi lies in the fact that one can often
create an application as a single executable file.) I'm looking for
suggestions (being somewhat unfamiliar with Vista myself) about how to set
up the install process to make Vista operation as easy as that with other
OS's. I'm told, for example, that you shouldn't default to installing in the
Program Files folder, because this will required administrator level access.
Is there anything else I need to know or do?
Thanks, as always -- Al
