I'd just second what everybody else has said. I've done what you want to do for about 20 domains for myself and family/friends now, and it just works flawlessly. Mail, calendars, Google Docs, etc all work, and all work between browser, Android, iPad, etc.
Got my domains mostly registered here in NZ, hosted on Dreamhost, and with Google Apps for all the mail, calendar and docs stuff behind the scenes. This is the first time however when I need to keep the domain on another host. Thanks again. I've got a new domain name and have signed up for hosting aon a hosting site with exactly what I want - except for the clunky email client. I want to use Google Apps for the webmail and the domain hosting site for everything else. I know that this can be done but not sure how\where. http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html I'm scared when I start this that Google Apps will take my domain and move it to their google apps, leaving all my databases and structures etc on the hosting site without access. Will Google Apps take my domain host? i.e. if I type in www.mydomain.com will it now point to google app's site? or will it leave the domain on the hosting site? Any other suggestions? I hate (really hate) being forced to have a browser and typing mail.mydomain.com to load their clunky webmail.
