The issue as I see it is how to extract the performance possibilities for a platform when you are writing applications. The architecture differences mean that 32 apps do not perform so well on Itanium as those compiled for the 64bit architecture. Your only access to that at moment that I am aware of is VC++. What I would have liked to have seen is Borland Delphi head there at the moment. I read the message as being "go to .NET and the .NET JIT compiler will give you the 64bit performance". Hmm. I throughly unconvinced. Some threads in borland nontechnical are of interest in this respect... http://groups.google.com/groups?as_q=.net%20speed&safe=images&ie=UTF- 8&oe=UTF-8&as_ugroup=borland*&as_uauthors=Eric%20Grange&lr=&num=50&hl=en ---------------------------------------------------------- Phil Scadden, Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences 764 Cumberland St, Private Bag 1930, Dunedin, New Zealand Ph +64 3 4799663, fax +64 3 477 5232 _______________________________________________ Delphi mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://ns3.123.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/delphi
