I think the main advantage to use AMD64 is to take advantage of big address space. But 1G RAM in one piece is far too expensive compare to 512M RAM. And motherboard I know of only allow to put max 8 piece RAM. That make AMD64 not so useful. I really like a motherboard can support 64 piece or more of 512M RAM each. This way I can get 32G RAM easily and cheaply. And bus speed also limit io transaction for network card. I think AMD 64 mainly area is server side. If can't solve network card bottleneck, AMD64 might not be so useful.
And Delphi, Kylix isn't support AMD 64. I know gcc compiler/linux os support AMD64. And no Microsoft Windows official release for AMD64, I think only beta version. That mightbe the reason can't push AMD64 sales high which effect price too.
