OK got it now, but when you have a TDataset linked to an SQL server (IB et al) you will get odd behavoiurs and performance penalties because of the impedance mismatch between the Tdataset paradigm (which is more Isam like) and an SQL Server. A Tdataset 'append' locates to the end of the dataset and then 'inserts', The performance of the scroll to the end could be horrendous depending on the implementation of scrolling
