There will always be some good examples of poor products which do better than good products. However it's also self evident that in the absence of all other factors a good product will be better received than a poor product.
Sometimes you might be able to get away with producing a poor product - get lucky if you will. But that doesn't mean you should necessarily base your business around that philosophy.
