I use Subversion too. It's great. I think a lot of companies in general could benefit from using a document control system like you described.
I presume you have your repository accessible remotely via SVN server or Apache server. What do you use for a front end? WebDAV, tortoise, or do you drive it from the command line. Do you install the client on your client's machine?
