dbx and ado are incomparable so saying one is 'better' than the other is irrelevant, dbX is a thin, fast, unidirectional data provider/command evecutor, ADO is a fat M$ 'solution to end all solutions' also known as 'we've done this 5 times (ODBC 1, ODBC 2, RDO, DAO, ADO) and still can't get it right!'

I think if you follow the logic that you should use ADO because its designed to work with MS SQL, you might as well extrapolate that to using VB because ADO was designed to work with it, BTW you might as well redesign your database to use the ADO update logic while you are at it

I didn't ask this very well - why ADO over DBX ?
Most (If not all) of what I have been able to find on the Net and Newsgroups says ADO is better...
"It was designed to work better with SQL-Server" etc...
This is a bit airy-fairy - is it correct ? does it still apply to D2006 Win32 ? Almost all of the info relates to versions other than D2006. Has DBX surpassed ADO in D2006 ?

Why would anyone go with SQL Server?
(I am not seriously asking this question, I understand some people will
be unfortunate enough to have to use it.)

I have been playing with the ADO options ... Returning small ResultSets
- 200-250 records I can get the speed to equal DBX (not better) but when
the ResultSets increase ADO gets Slower compared to DBX!

I am asking why would anyone go with ADO over DBX ?
