It's fairly easy to blame Borland for the Kylix implementation five years after the fact. A lot has happened in the Linux world since then. I agree that Kylix 1.0 was fairly bad, but I think the biggest problem with Kylix was when it was released. At the time of release most Linux developers (probably still are I guess) were complete zealots and used GCC and Emacs and would never have paid for an IDE. I take your point about the write once for any platform. I think even today if Kylix did that, how big a market is there?
