This is fantastic! It is nearly all working - the only missing bit is the pixbuf loader thing (it fails to load png files). The error messages (running denemo-console.exe) are this sort of thing:

I don't recall much else about it - I don't think I ever went near it under gub. ***BUT**** it *is* fantastic, everything I tested worked - playback was the real danger - we are doing threads on windows and it is just working - hearty congratulations to Dominic S. here!
