Follow-up Comment #1:
I've have just tried this out with denemo and denemo-console and don't get a
crash. What I notice is that the audio stuff is re-instated every time you
quit the preferences, so I would suspect it is something in there.
Have you changed the default font in the preferences dialog? Denemo 9 is the
default, but the bold and italic don't make sense.
