Ubuntu distribution has created a broken version of Denemo. The following (pasted onto a command line) should work:
export UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=`which denemo` && denemo I managed to create a launcher for Denemo that works around the mistake that Ubuntu made, and I saw that the problem was discussed on Ubuntu forums. I am using Debian and don't have the details to hand unfortunately. There are instructions to build Denemo from source on denemo.org and I have helped newbies do this - the current Denemo version has a lot of improvements.
