Hi Richard.
I have fixed it (?) by loading the stable 2.6 version from denemo.org
I still get this message on opening a previous file that implies tha the
version of Lilypond included in denemo (which I am now using)
is a bit out of date. Is this normal. DOes denemo use an olde (stable?)
version of Lilypond.
I can obviously ignore the message!
Best wishes
Joe

What is happening is that Denemo is typesetting it at each keystroke,
which involves invoking lilypond as an external program. There are
two
ways of compiling lilypond for windows, one which starts a terminal
("cmd window") and one not. It used to be the case that
LilyPond created both versions, calling one lilypond-windows.exe or
some such, but looking at their latest version there is only one:
lilypond.exe
I don't know if you are using a version of LilyPond bundled in with
Denemo or whether you have it separately downloaded (and pointed
to in
your preferences), but if neither of these has a version of LilyPond
that does not create a terminal then you will need to workaround by
writing your text separately (in a text editor) and pasting it in to
Denemo. I don't have a windows box to test, but I'll ask around...

no, there is nothing to turn it off :(
