Hi,

For bacterial genomes, somewhere between
16 and 32 processor cores is usually fine.

For metagenomes, it depends on their complexity.
I process gut microbiomes with usually 64 cores for
200 000 000 reads in less than 6 hours.

But as I said, your mileage can vary with other factors.

It also depends on how much memory you have for each
processor core.
