OK, after resetting the database (removed all the files from .../data/ and cleared /etc/hosts.deniedssh) it seems to all be back to normal. I still see that error on line 11 the first time I try to connect, but sshd is not getting killed on every connection attempt so I am thinking that Feb 19 20:23:27 mail sshd[41980]: warning: /etc/hosts.allow, line 11: can't verify hostname: getaddrinfo(166-205-012-100.mobile.mymmode.com, AF_INET) failed is normal? (this is a connection over AT&T 3G) Also, logging has resumed in /var/log/denyhosts so I'm pretty confident that everything is back to normal. -- Some people are like a Slinky toy - not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The ultimate all-in-one performance toolkit: Intel(R) Parallel Studio XE: Pinpoint memory and threading errors before they happen.
