The biggest thing I see a need for is MD5 (and other?) checksum generation/validation. Personally, I don't see a need for more protocols (yet) we'll leverage layers below for those -- but this aspect of security (ensuring the data wasn't tampered with) is key to make Ruper usable across Apache.
