Kim Haase commented on DERBY-6462:
----------------------------------

Thanks, Dag!

So it looks as if we can actually put things a bit more simply? What we need to
say, I gather, is something like "neither the database name nor the name of a
directory in the database path can contain a colon (although the colon after
the drive name in a Windows path is allowed)." Is this what you say is an
implementation bug? If so, maybe it's a feature until we have an issue for it.

I can fix the "resolved path" language in the 3 topics that use it.

The material about slashes after "file:" actually applies only to the policy
files, and what we need to do there is just to correct the errors. The syntax
for that is specified in the Java guide linked to from the "Granting
permissions to Derby" topic and we don't need to cover it.

I will work on another patch. Let me know if anything I'm proposing seems off.

> Except for initial Windows drive letters (e.g. K:/derby), colons break Derby.
> Windows can't have colons in directory of file names, so this is a Unix issue.
