Hi Mamta,
I agree that, for Derby, a database name and a schema name are two different
things.
I was reacting to Rick's earlier comment that, in other database systems, the
object that they refer to as a "database name" corresponds to the object that
we refer to as a "schema name".
So I think it would be worthwhile for us to have a utility function that
returns the database name, as you propose.
But I also think Rick was saying that, for many users, they don't actually want
to get the database name; they want to get the current schema name.
And I believe we already have a way to do that.
So it would also be useful to figure out how to clearly describe these concepts
so that Derby users are able to find the particular name that they want, even
if they are coming from a different database which uses different terminology.
