The test is not a typical system test and tries is intended only to test the
optimizer changes, so I agree with Army's comments that a better
place seem to be the derbyTesting/perf/basic/lang package. The important thing
to be mentioned is that the test is not meant to be run in nightlies because of
the amount of time needed to complete.
Since the test runs the queries under both PreparedStatement and Statement, it
could provide info about the query preparation/execution times involved.
I do feel as more enhancements are made to the optimizer more and more complex
queries can be added to this test, hence would be a
great addition.
