That is, the in-place compress avoids copying the table to a new file. Since this version of the compress tool does not make a new file, the underlying file remains the same size in bytes, and the disk space usage as measured by the operating system is not reduced by the compress. It just re-arranges the space within the pages of the file. thanks, bryan
