I have been experimenting with this and I do not think SQL.install_jar defaults 
to
derby.system.home.

I think we need to document this issue stating that

If jar installations are performed when replication is running the same jars 
will not
be automatically installed in the slave. The user will have to ensure that the 
jars are
installed properly after failover is done (this can be done by using either 
sqlj.replace_jar, or 
by, sqlj.remove_jar and sqlj.install_jar).
