We use <xref> for cross-references within a manual, but for
cross-references between manuals we just say
See "section title" in Book Title.
Hi Kim, thanks for the clarification.
As you suspected, I saw the cross-manual <xref> tags working
mostly OK in the HTML version of the docs, but I didn't try
the PDF or single-page versions, so I missed the problems that
you noticed with those.
I'll submit a follow-on patch to DERBY-4065 to use the
alternate style of cross referencing for the places where I used
the cross-manual xref's.
