I don't find the grid colour option to be completely silly (it just
shouldn't be there twice, confusing you, me and most other users). A
pink grid on white may be, but if you want to create something
visually appealing (it's a spreadsheet, I know), a white grid on dark
grey etc. might help.

I'll try to work on this, in fact, I already made screenshots of all
LibO option pages a few days ago, to analyse what should go. There are
some really weird things in the options, the Memory page is one of
these, but also the option to turn of tooltips, or use a font other
than the system font for the user interface...
