If we did this, we would have to translate these icons for every language
supported by LibreOffice. We would also have to translate icons such as
"highlight", "font color", etc. There would also be problem areas like
superscript or subscript, for which it is hard to pick the right letters.

Overall, it's just easier and more consistent to go with international
symbols.
