So, while the item in the other logo thread could still be considered,
here's my view:

Top priority should now be on making a nice blog post containing:

* Greetings and some brief personal background from Robert

* Show something of the creative process, including acknowledging and
showing the work that the students did

* Highlight the latest design draft

* Mention the design email list along with the site-design wiki page as
places to discuss and get involved

* Mention the FLO tools used (Inkscape mainly I suppose, maybe mention
fonts)

* Summary of the qualities and values that are being considered and why
the current direction serves those

Now, I personally feel that even if we disregarded the various issues in
the logo thread (such as the mismatch between the cartoony / snowy feel
of the page vs the harder new logo), that, Robert, your points about the
values of the new logo are compelling; everyone will absolutely get used
to it if we just went with it…

So, if we make this effort to present things to people before we go and
put up a new homepage, it will give people the opportunity to object or
provide new perspectives. Assuming nobody really objects to the new
logo, I am perfectly happy to say "I trust Robert's design judgements; I
brought up concerns as well so I know those were considered; I see his
points about how the new logo meets all these qualities we want".

So, I don't want to be perfectionist, I want to go to the step of
presenting to the community more broadly and moving forward. The new
direction is acceptable, and we can go with it. It has lots of good
aspects. I also happen to like the newest one-road (not intersection)
illustration for the homepage. I think we're approaching the point where
it's good enough to move forward. Even the logo itself can still be
tweaked later if we actually find a way to improve it, but it's good
enough. For that matter, any of the logos are good enough, but I accept
Robert's judgements about which values to prioritize.

So, Robert, let's get a blog draft going and get that up. Let's make
that top priority for design right now.

Cheers
