Maybe, but how would you feel if I gave out your home or cell phone

I don't pass on other's personal information without clearing it with
them first. In particular I'm thinking of a use case where the Cosmo
server is a hosted service not managed by the person or organization
whose calendar is being shared.

my email address is nowhere near as sensitive to me as my phone
number. i can apply any number of filters to email to ensure that i
see very little unsolicited communication. not so with phone. but
that's just my personal opinion. i'm not saying your friend shouldn't
be paranoid, just that she's probably in a small minority.

I may have misunderstood, but several of the previous suggestions
mentioned Scooby/Cosmo sending out emails. If the invitation to share
comes addressed from me, then I don't think it's a problem. Also, if
it's not addressed from me, then whitelist filters may block the
sharing requests.

i don't see any reason for the server to send sharing notifications
when the sharer is using chandler to actually share the content.
