Chandler, like many applications, displays more than one selection at the same time e.g. in the sidebar and summary view. Commands can only operate on one selection, the one that has keyboard focus. To make this distinction clear we draw selections that don't have the focus in a lighter shade of selection color than the selections that have the focus.

However, I've notice that people are still confused when a command doesn't work on a selection that doesn't have the focus. I'm thinking that we need to make the difference between focused selections and non-focused selections more distinct, and was wondering what people think about drawing the non-focused selection in gray rather than a lighter shade of the selection color.
