So in Chandler, we currently have this notion of 'partial sharing' where instead of sharing an entire collection, users can share just the task list, calendar or mailbox for that collection.
The original motivation in 0.6 was to allow both developers and users to focus in on just calendar sharing, without having to worry about the other parts of the Chandler app and/or having to negotiate our half-finished faceted sidebar.
Since then, we've expanded the scope of dogfoodable Chandler to include all the app areas and as a result, the partial sharing paradigm we erected in 0.6 is starting to feel more and more like added complexity.
For an example, see forwarded bug below.
Are there still compelling use cases where users specifically ONLY want to share just 1 or 2 portions of a collection, but not all 3? We haven't come across any in our target user scenarios, but I'd be interested to hear from anyone who feels they have an important use case.
The benefits of getting rid of partial sharing include:
1. Avoiding confusing bugs like the one below where a sharEE adds tasks, notes and email to a share and nothing happens because the original share was set up when the shar-ER was in the calendar and inadvertently shared as a CALENDAR-ONLY share.
2. Get rid of confusing 'partial share' sharing status icons in the sidebar.
