This seems pretty reasonable to me.
You could also add an unobtrusive button/link on the login page ("Log in
to ...") which will pop up a little dialog allowing them to choose
explicitly a section to log into (my online banking does something like
this and it seems to work well), with a little checkbox that says "make
this my default view."
