Huh. For no particular reason, I thought that the box would "default" to a search function. That is, a string that didn't start with a slash would be interpreted as a search string.

That seems an improvement in the design, making search more discoverable and saving keystrokes, with no loss in function. Apologies if this particular design has already been rejected.
