Hi Philippe and Davor, > Interesting scenario. Indeed, I understand the need though, to be > perfectly honest, I still dislike the pop-up as I think it'll end up > annoying users and they (I for sure...) will end up not paying attention > to it.
I dislike popups, too, but I think if we don't give strong warning in this case it'll undermine the reliability of the NOW section. I want to never look in the DONE section unless I'm specifically looking for old stuff. But I'm a fan of Davor's suggestion. > So what about this: display in the section header (the gray row holding > the open triangle and "Done" text) an icon that says that they are > unread items in this section. Or, may be better, the number of unread > items (we currently display the total number of items). > > Thoughts? I don't think this really solves the problem, it's easy to have all section header rows scrolled out of view. > How about just leaving those unread items in the Now section after a > purge? (It might help to show them in bold, too.) Yeah, that's exactly what we should do, it's easy to implement and predictable and doesn't involve dialogs. To rephrase this proposal: Triage should change the section of an item only if it's not unread (yes, that's a double negative, but from a user perspective there are lots of states that column represents). Making those unread items bold sounds good, too, but I think that may involve more work and thus shouldn't be a requirement for preview.
