Woops…I must have hit the 'reply' as opposed to 'reply all'. -Priscilla

Hi Greg,

Welcome to the design list and thank you for addressing your concern.

I agree the current design is very grey and we are still iterating on the design. Yes, we are concerned about items looking disabled and to make sure it's not hard for our users to read.

I don't object to grey as a branding color, but looking at the mockups, grey appears to be used as a font color as well. In this case, the font for the calendar is clearly grey, and seemingly some other places as well. This is a _BAD_ choice.

I have poor eyesight, and I need all the help I can get to resolve text when I'm reading. There's a reason that books are printed with solid black type on pure white background: it's the easiest to read. Similarly, text on a screen that's meant to be read should also be BLACK (not grey) on WHITE. (Text that's inactive is not to be read and can be greyed out, but even then it should be dark grey.)
Part of what you're seeing is our working process and the common struggling with too much information on the web UI. Using grey vs. black is part of a process in figuring out which items are important vs. which items need to be set back. Otherwise if all the information on the page is important, then the one would never know where to begin and where to end.

Currently the text which are not editable are grey. Hint text in text boxes such as the 'goto date' are in grey as well because once the user clicks into the box, it will be replaced by what the user types in (the text the user types in is in black btw.). Other items which are editable will be black in the detail view.

We're iterating on the dashboard text though we may see if ppl will try to click on tot he dashboard since it's not editable (in line) for the upcoming release. Though as I said, we'll still working out the details, including font color.

I realize it's probably too late to influence this choice, but I'll hope that you keep it in mind for the next iteration.
Nope not too late…we'll definitely keep your concern in mind. As mentioned, we are still iterating so we'll keep your concerns in mind as we move forward. =)

Thanks, -Priscilla
