Both bcm and myself (at least) both found the workflow of

Agreed.
If you always popped up a rename box when subscribing that wouldn't
let you go away until you have the collection a unique display
name, and warns you or prevents you from subscribing to the same
collection twice, several issues will be solved:
1) You won't be able to have two identically named collections
[bug 8595]
2) You won't be able to accidentally subscribe to the same
colllection twice [bug 8325]
3) Workflow is more efficient [bug ????]
So let me understand the proposal you're suggesting:
1. User clicks on subscribe button.
2. Enter in ID/PW
3. Another dialog appears with (or a dynamic dialog expands with
instructions below):
'You've already subscribed to this collection. What would you like to
do?'
[ ] Cancel and return to what I was viewing.
[ ] Rename this collection [ ] and add it
again to my account.
[ x ] Do not add this collection to my account but log me into the
web UI.
[Okay]
We can modify the language, but is this the gist of what you're
suggesting?
