I'm not familiar with the current infrastructure and plugin conventions, but it would be great if this could grow into a general mechanism for plugins to extend the quick entry box. Just for comparison, in Eclipse it's super easy for a plugin to specify in its plugin.xml file menu options that should be added to the workspace navigator view's context menu only for specific file types.

Hi,

My name is Phil Jones, and under the mentoring of Jeffrey Harris, I am participating in the Google Summer of Code.

The first project that I will be working on, as a starter project, is to
add a Switch to Quick Entry menu item in Chandler which will bring the
focus to the Quick Entry box in the top right of the toolbar.

Once that task is completed, I'm looking to further enhance the Quick Entry box.

Currently, I am planning to refine the Quick Entry functionality to allow for additional commands to be more easily
added, as currently code modifications are required to make these changes.

I am researching into possible methods from a simple file to a more complex package of files, but does anyone have any initial feedback as to the preferred method for providing "plug-in" type functionality? Is there something that already exists in Chandler that can utilized to help with this type of problem?

I'm just looking to adopt the conventions that already exist for Chandler, if there are any, and if not, then create a
mechanism that will fit into Chandler in a nice manner.

Thanks for the feedback, and I look forward to being involved with and getting to know the OSAF and
Chandler.

Thanks,
Phil Jones
