Hi Phil

Glad you asked!

I did a quick search of bugs that mention 'Quick Item Entry' and got this:

https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/buglist.cgi? query_format=advanced&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr&short_desc=quick +entry&product=Chandler&long_desc_type=substring&long_desc=&bug_file_loc _type=allwordssubstr&bug_file_loc=&status_whiteboard_type=allwordssubstr &status_whiteboard=&keywords_type=allwords&keywords=&bug_status=NEW&bug_ status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=REOPENED&emailassigned_to1=1&emailtype1=subst ring&email1=&emailassigned_to2=1&emailreporter2=1&emailcc2=1&emailtype2= substring&email2=&bugidtype=include&bug_id=&votes=&chfieldfrom=&chfieldt o=Now&chfieldvalue=&cmdtype=doit&order=Reuse+same+sort+as+last +time&field0-0-0=noop&type0-0-0=noop&value0-0-0=

My personal top 3 are:

1. Display the default kind of item the quick entry field creates in each app area. In all, it's a note, in mail is a message, etc. Today we display the same hint text: 'Create new item' across all app areas. It'd be nice to be able to change the hint text: 'Create new note / message / task / event' as you switch app areas. https:// bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8306

2. Auto-complete dropdown. Darshana and I talked a lot about having a drop down of command options as soon as you type into the quick entry field. https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9916

If you decide to take this on, we should probably have a kick-off meeting to get on the same page. Some of these designs may be out of date.

3. Currently if you create a new event with no event date/time info, you get an @time event starting *and* ending right now. We should probably follow the same rules we follow when creating new events from the New button in the toolbar or the New menu item. (We usually create a 1 hour long event starting now-ish, rounded to the next 15 minute increment.) Jeffrey can fill you in on this.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

Hi Mimi,

I am one of the Google Summer of Code students, being mentored by Jeffrey Harris. I am currently looking for some of the bugs for quick entry parsing, and Jeffrey suggested that you might have a good idea of what some of the problems are.

If you have any bugs in this area that I can investigate, please let me know because I would be very interested in investigating some of these bugs.

Thanks,
