Is there a reason not to? I think for 1.0, Hub users should be able
to send out tickets to invite others to share the way Desktop users
can. So perhaps generating tickets for the default collection should
be a part of that?

the server does not autocreate tickets for the default collection. the
desktop is certainly welcome to do that at any time.
