So in my attempt to try and catch up (after having been away for over
4 months), I wanted to clarify a few details about the Chandler
Desktop 1.0 plan. After looking through all the info, bugs and email,
I am a bit confused. I had a number of questions/clarifications about
the plan and process and thought I would send to the list so others
can benefit from the discussion.
Basically I am trying to wrap my head around what is in 1.0, the
tenets, the priorities and when we think it will be released.
+ What are the tenets for 1.0?
+ So per the milestone schedule on http://chandlerproject.org/bin/
view/Projects/ChandlerMilestoneSchedule, we have releases 0.7.4 on
Jan 9th and 0.7.5 on Feb 6th. It's my assumption that 0.7.5 is what
we are calling our 1.0 release. Is this correct? I am assuming that
all the work we want to do for 1.0 is scattered over multiple
milestones ( 0.7.3, 0.7.4 etc)
+ How are we setting the priorities for what gets worked on first?
Before I left we were using P1 and P2s for the tasks and high
priority bug fixes (must haves for the release) and P3s etc could be
punted. Is this still the case?
+ Looking at Mimi's write up on 1.0
(http://chandlerproject.org/Notes/OneDotZeroDesktopBugs) I noticed
that many items have been fixed (yipee) and many of the bugs are
targeted P3 and P4. If the product team feels some of these are must
haves for 1.0, what's the process to get these upgraded? I am still
assuming that most P3s and P4s won't get done.
+ Mimi's write-up deals with the usability stuff but I am assuming
there are other features architecture work, dev items. Do we have
that list and how is this prioritized? What is driving the tenets, is
it Mimi's write up? http://chandlerproject.org/Notes/
OneDotZeroDesktopBugs
+ In looking at the bug list...there are 64 bugs for 0.7.4 and 197
for 0.7.future. I assume that the bugs for 0.7.5 are going to be
taken from the pool of 0.7.future bugs. I am wondering how we are
going to narrow the list for 0.7.5 since clearly 197 is probably too
many. Are we going to scope that down? If so, when. Does this list
match up with the tenets? Who is reconciling this?
In summary, I am trying to reconcile the 1.0 plan with what is in
bugzilla and a release date of early feb and it seems like things
don't line up. It could be I have missed a number of emails/
conversations so clarification would be helpful.
Thanks,
Sheila
