Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
Ubuntu 7.04.
Checked using an Italian keyboard (built-in laptop keyboard) plus an USB U.S.
English connected to the laptop.
Go to "System --> Preferences --> Keyboard" and choose tab "Layouts".
Set "Keyboard mode" as "Generic 105-key (Intl) PC".
You must have two different layouts defined:
(1) Italy (top order), originally defined when the system has been installed
(2) U.S. English (bottom order), added later
Leave "Separate group for each window" unchecked.
Let's assume that you can switch the layout using a predefined keychord or the
corresponding gnome applet.
Switch to US layout: now the key '\' (backslash) is not correctly mapped since
it yields the character 'รน'.
Note that swapping the layout order (1st U.S. English, 2nd Italy) solves this
issue and keyboards are both correctly mapped.
** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
