The beta was set before the fix to the usplash was done, and I believe
the usplash bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147623) interfered
with the autodetect.

If there were a simple way to update the packages on the beta livecd
then I'd test this hypothesis, but apparently livecd's are built using
Gentoo. So I'll wait for the developers to release rc1.

The work around is to do the install in safe graphics mode. Then
after booting into the newly installed system and updating to most
recent packages you should get a prompt from System > Hardware Drivers
saying that there's a restricted driver for your hardware. Enable the
nvidia driver and you should be all set.

Doing an install in low graphics used to be impossible, but the
installer has been made to use windows that fit on a lowres screen.
